What’s been happening with us during this last year?

Things have certainly been disrupted this last year because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide pandemic, and here in Bali with visitor numbers dropping drastically, the effects on the economy, and people’s health, have been wide and far reaching. Senada Batik Bali store and showroom has been closed since March 2020, with the idea at that time that this would only last a few months. Now going on a year into the pandemic, we have continued to follow health advice and remain for the most part closed, only opening up for special appointments; wholesale order cargo pick ups, a few retail and wholesale customer visits (masks and social distancing), and the sort.

At our batik factory we implemented a revised production work schedule, with the work day being split into two work shifts to allow for better social distancing for our workers. Our wholesale handmade batik fabric orders have remained constant and steady, although at a reduced capacity to our normal production quantities so we can keep health protocols in place at our batik factory. We continue to support our sewers with a work from home option, allowing them to remain more isolated, but still keeping busy with work, and for them to stay close to there families at their homes in these somewhat stressful and uncertain times is a great help for their morale. The health and safety of all our workers is very important to us, and we are more than grateful that this last year they have all remained healthy, and have been earning an income to support their families.

During this time we had hoped to have more of our beautiful handmade batik fabric resort wear products added to our retail online shop, but with our reduced art of batik fabric production, we have had to prioritise our wholesale orders. Although, we are very much looking forward to the time that allows us to schedule increases in the production of our handmade batik fabrics for use in making more of our resort wear products to sell through our online shop.

We wish everyone the best of health.

Glad to hear you are surviving during this difficult pandemic. I bought some sarongs from your online shop, and am looking forward to you adding clothing.

Hello Phoebe. Once our production is back to normal, and all our wholesale orders have cleared, it will be our top priority to add many more products to our online shop. If you would like to be notified, please sign up to our email newsletter.
